Amy Andrews
I was born and raised in Spokane, WA, where my family and I did all the adventuring. I went to Western Washington University to continue adventuring and also major in Human Services. This led me to all sorts of interesting careers over my short life so far, from job coach to activity director at a retirement home, to yoga teacher. The yoga piece stuck, as it was something I could do from literally anywhere, and allowed me to live in some pretty amazing places, including San Francisco and Bainbridge Island.
I finally felt the urge to settle down and started my journey east in Pateros, Washington, eventually ending up in Chelan in 2021. It immediately felt like home. I love the tight knit community, the focus on support of small businesses and being able to walk into a place and know someone’s name. Chelan is a very special place!
I currently serve as the College and Career Coordinator at Chelan High School—a dream role for me because I get to connect with students and help them pursue their goals. My own career path allows me to relate to students and remind them they don’t need to have it all figured out.
Outside of school, I teach yoga through my business Yoga Uncorked and for Chelan’s volleyball and cross-country teams, as well as teach yoga and fitness classes at The Barn Fitness Center. If I didn’t have enough jobs- I also work at Silverbell Winery, where I first connected with Thrive.
I’m passionate about building relationships and community connections. Through Yoga Uncorked, I partner with local businesses to bring yoga into their spaces while promoting their work as well. I believe this spirit of collaboration is well aligned with Thrive’s mission.
Joining a board has been a longtime goal of mine, and Thrive felt like the perfect fit when I joined in September. It’s a group of incredible supportive, hardworking and thoughtful people who are really looking out for this community. It’s been an honor my short time on (so far!) to serve.
